Hi! Welcome & thank you for visiting my web site. My real name is Robin. Beeba is my nickname that my mom and a few others call me. I am very excited about my new endeavor, Beeba's Book Nook! Fall 2004 I had an idea for our school PTA to help raise funds without selling more candy bars! I thought I could buy used books cheap and resell them all for still a bargain price of $1 each. (Since having children, I've learned & come to really enjoy being a thrifty shopper.) I pulled it all together for our school in a few weeks and it was quite successful! The PTA also decided to hold it again (in June 2005) for summer reading. I really enjoyed doing it and I received such nice feedback that I decided to make a "job" out of it. My husband is very supportive of this idea and me and I'm very grateful and appreciative of him. Honestly, I was never big on reading books. I enjoy math a lot more. I am currently treasurer for my son's cub scout pack and treasurer for our PTA. Now I'm really "keeping the books"! But I understand the value of books and that reading to children is very important. It helps kids with their speech, language development, reading skills, school, etc... I have been reading books to our 3 beautiful children since they were little babies! And I have really grown a fondness for children's books! I love them! And I'm thrilled that all 3 of my kids still enjoy reading/listening to books. I'm very proud to say that they are doing fabulous in school. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful children! It's been very rewarding to me to bring these quality books to kids at such a great price. It's much better for them than buying a cheap plastic toy at the dollar store that will probably break in a few days and just add clutter to your house. Plus, I have always been a bit of a conservationist. We've been recycling paper/bottles/cans before they had curbside pick up. I like to look at Beeba's Book Nook as helping the environment too by recycling these books around. I hope you will agree that that it is a good thing all around! |
| After my husband gave me the ok, I began the fun process of
accumulating books! I started with 1000, then 2000, then 3000, etc.... We estimate that we
now have over 5,000 books. They are in our living room, basement, on our deck and taking
over our little house so we recently purchased an enclosed trailer to help store &
haul the books. We have a nice set up with 6 wheeled bookshelves filled with quality used
childrens books. I have a wonderful selection of all types of books; award winners,
non-fiction, Disney, Dr. Seuss, TV/movie characters, I Can Read (Beginner Readers), etc...
Many of the books I have are in new/almost new condition (especially the chapter books). Also, I wanted to tell teachers, if you need a bunch of copies of a particular book, I may have them. For instance, I have many copies of books written by these well-known authors: Avi, Lynne Reid Banks, Beverly Cleary, Jean Craighead George, Patricia MacLachlan, Scott O'Dell, Katherine Paterson, Gary Paulsen, Elizabeth George Speare, Armstrong Sperry and E.B. White. But, I can't bring them all to each event... So, let me know if you need a lot of copies of a particular book and I will do my best to get them for you.
